5 Hour Whale and Wildlife Watching Tour
What it actually looks like
What the children do
The longer of the two scheduled trips, leaving Campbell River and working the waters around Discovery Passage, Johnstone Strait and the Salish Sea. The company looks for orcas and humpback whales as well as dolphins, porpoises, seals, sea lions, eagles and black bears, and says nothing is guaranteed with wild animals. Lunch is included in the child price. Departure is normally 11 am, and a 10 percent fuel surcharge is added to every tour. Pick up and drop off at Quathiaski Cove on Quadra Island can be arranged for groups staying on Quadra.
Spend about five hours on a small covered boat with a heated cabin, a washroom and an open deck at the back to stand and watch from. They scan the water for whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions and eagles, and eat the lunch that comes with the trip.
Good to know
There is a washroom and a heater on board and the cabin is covered, so rain is not a reason to stay home. Somewhere to eat on shore, wheelchair access and coach parking are not stated, and the boat takes eight guests in total, so any group has to be very small.
