Forest Ecology: Eagles & Ecosystems
What it actually looks like
What the children do
A guided walk through the mature second growth forest for younger classes, looking at the plants and animals of the forest ecosystem and ending at the bald eagles' nest. Children are introduced to local plants and trees with their Hul'q'umi'num' names and uses. The program includes a train ride. Price is per student and GST is added on top.
Walk a gentle loop through forest with 400 year old Douglas fir, cedar, alder and big leaf maple, stop to look up at the eagles' nest, and learn the Hul'q'umi'num' names for some of the plants along the way. Then ride the train around the property.
Good to know
Portable washrooms and an outdoor picnic area are on site, and the main trails are step free. There is no published wet weather fallback, and programs go ahead rain or shine.
