Forest Heritage: Springboards & Swedish Fiddles
What it actually looks like
What the children do
A guided logging camp program for older classes, focused on the technology and transport used in logging camps and communities in the early to mid twentieth century, including the slang the loggers used. The program includes a train ride and access to the rest of the site. Price is per student and GST is added on top.
Look at the tools and machines the loggers used, learn the camp slang for everyday things, and go through the bunkhouses and other camp buildings with a guide. Then ride the train around the property and over the trestle.
Good to know
Portable washrooms and an outdoor picnic area are on site, and the main routes are step free. Bus parking, indoor shelter in bad weather and how many adults have to come are not published.
