Our note
This is the route to take if your group is mixed ages or too big for a school program. Check the price before you commit, because the rates on their groups page still carry 2025 dates while the general admission page has moved on to 2026.

What the children do

Groups of ten or more paying visitors can pre book a group admission rate, which includes a guided tour where one is available. The choices are the Camp Life Tour at 30 minutes, the Foresters Walk at 45 minutes and the Stone Tool Collection Tour at 45 minutes, each followed by the 2.5 km train ride around the property. The rates recorded here are the shoulder season group rates published for 2025, so check them before you budget. Group rates do not apply to the Halloween Train or the Christmas Express.

Follow a guide around the logging camp, the forest trails or the stone tool collection depending on which tour you choose, then board the train for a twenty minute ride around the 100 acres and over the trestle, with a ten minute stop at the lower grounds. Afterwards the group can wander the exhibits, the heritage buildings and the playground.

Good to know

Portable washrooms, an outdoor picnic area and step free access to most of the site, including the trains. Bus parking is not published and there is no stated wet weather fallback, so it is worth a call.

Sources disagree. Their web page and their printed program brochure give two different email addresses for the same education coordinator. If one bounces, try the other, or ring the office. We use the one from their tours page.
Sources disagree. Their brochure splits the forest programs into two tight grade bands while their web page says the same programs suit kindergarten right up to grade seven. If your class sits outside the narrow bands, say so when you book and ask whether they will adapt it.
Sources disagree. Their brochure says school programs run in May, June and September, while their web page says they run right through the season from Easter to Thanksgiving. Ask for the month you want and see what they say.
