Our note
Nothing on this site is set up for a class or a daycare group. The one thing published is a two day carving workshop for individuals, using bent and straight knives, with no age guidance at all. The page also says classes are cancelled until further notice, so email before you plan anything around it.
What the children do
A two day workshop with Herb Rice at Whippletree Junction, south of Duncan. Participants are introduced to knife making and care, to the different woods used, and to basic North West Coast technique and design, and each person carves a Killer Whale plaque using traditional bent knives and straight knives. Wood, designs, knives and all finishing materials are provided, some of the finishing has to be done at home, and lunch is at a local cafe at extra cost. The page carries a notice that all classes are cancelled until further notice, and gives no price, no dates, no age range and no group size.
Good to know
There is no visitor information on the site, so washrooms, lunch space, parking, accessibility and how long a session runs are all unknown. Email is the only way in, and the workshop is currently not running.
Sources disagree. Their pages show several different email addresses for the same people, and some of the links point at a different address than the one printed. We use the one on their workshop page. If it bounces, try the others.
