What it actually looks like

Our note
An hour and a half is the longest of the museum programs and most of it is sitting and handling objects, which suits a settled group better than a restless one. It is the one to pick if you want local history rather than fossils.

What the children do

An hour and a half program at the museum about the changes in family life in the Comox Valley brought about by new technology and early colonial settlement, set against the thousands of years K'omoks First Nation had lived on their territory beforehand. It includes a slide show introduction to Comox Valley history, a tour of the exhibits, and an interactive session with artifacts and an activity. Clothing, tools, food, education, housekeeping and entertainment, past and present, are examined through hands-on experiences. The price is published against a maximum of 30.

Watch a short slide show, walk the exhibits, then sit with real artifacts and handle clothing, tools and household objects while comparing them with what they use now.

Good to know

Ninety minutes at the museum, up to 30 people, with artifacts to handle. Toilets, lunch space, bus parking and how far ahead to book are not stated.

Sources disagree. Their school programs page has been showing two different prices, an older one of about $120 plus tax and a current one of $150 for a group of up to 30. The $150 is what the page shows now. Get the price confirmed in writing when you book.
Sources disagree. The fossil tour price has been shown two ways, once as $36.75 for a child and once as $35 with tax added on top to reach the same total. Either way it comes to $36.75 a child, but ask whether tax is included so there is no surprise.
