Our note
The $60 is for the whole class, not for each child, which makes this one of the cheaper indoor outings in the valley. They will run it for any length you ask for, so say up front how long your group can hold attention rather than taking the 60 minutes as fixed.

What the children do

A visit to the museum for a class, either led by a guide or run by the teacher. Children work through a scavenger hunt to find artifacts, photographs and information in each gallery, and the museum provides the clipboards and the hunt sheets. The museum lists it for Kindergarten to Grade 12 at 60 minutes, or a length of your choosing, for $60 a class. It is available from 15 September to 15 December and 15 January to 15 June, Monday to Wednesday, morning or afternoon. You arrange it by email.

Walk the galleries with a clipboard, hunting for particular artifacts, photographs and pieces of information in each room, either following a guide or working through the hunt on their own.

Good to know

Food and drink are not allowed inside, and the museum sits in Charles Hoey V.C. Memorial Park, which is where a packed lunch would have to happen. There is a free three hour car park just north of the train station and two hour free street parking on Duncan Street behind the museum, but nothing about coach parking, toilets or step free access is published.

Sources disagree. Their own pages give two different postal codes for the same street address. One is V9L 3Y2, which is also the code on their post office box, and the other is V9L 1T4. We use the one from their contact page. If a delivery or a sat nav argues with you, that is why.
Sources disagree. Their home page and their contact page give different opening seasons. One switches to summer hours in May, the other says June. The days and times are the same on both. Worth checking which applies to the week you want.
