What it actually looks like
Our note
This one starts at a cabin off Comox Lake Road rather than at the museum, so check the meeting point the night before. It is outdoors the whole time.
What the children do
A guided outdoor walk of the site of Cumberland's historic Chinatown, about the Chinese Canadian families who lived and worked there. Groups meet at Wong Gong (Jumbo's) Cabin, not at the museum, and there is a larger car park at the Coal Creek historic site nearby. The museum asks groups to come dressed for the weather.
Walk the pathways of the old Chinatown site with a guide for about three quarters of an hour, picturing the businesses, music and cooking that once filled it.
Good to know
Outdoors from start to finish, with parking at the meeting point. Washrooms, somewhere to eat and a wet weather plan are not mentioned, so worth a call.
