What it actually looks like
Photos from Ecosummer Expeditions's website
Our note
This is a 75 kilometre backpacking expedition over eight days, with ladder systems, tide timings and a 12 to 15 kilogram pack each. The site gives it no price and no youngest age, and its own description says most guests come away exhausted. It is not a trip for a children's group.
What the children do
An 8 day, 7 night guided backpacking expedition over the 75 kilometre West Coast Trail, ending with a 4 hour evening tour of Kiixin with the Huu-ay-aht First Nations on day seven. The group is a maximum of 8 guests plus 2 guides. Besides personal clothing and toiletries, each participant carries roughly 12 to 15 kilograms of shared group gear such as food, tents and cooking equipment. Start dates are set each year with Parks Canada; the 2025 season listed August 1 to 7 and August 15 to 21. No price and no minimum age are published anywhere on the site for this trip, and the only route to book it is the form on its dates page.
Good to know
Only the group size, the length and the packing weight are published. There is no price, no youngest age and no start date beyond last season's two, so anything practical would have to come from a phone call.
