Forty minutes standing and listening is the whole visit here, and the tour runs only on Fridays and Saturdays, so it suits older groups more than a preschool room. Admission is by donation, which means you should agree an amount internally before you arrive.

What the children do

A 40-minute staff-led tour of the house, booked in advance through the venue's Eventbrite page. The Plan Your Visit page gives the schedule as Fridays and Saturdays at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., and notes that special events may disrupt it.

Walk through the rooms of the house with a trained staff member and hear stories about Emily Carr's childhood and family life.

The first floor of the house is wheelchair accessible; the accessible entrance is at the rear of the house down a gravel path. The second floor is only accessible by stairs.

Bus parking

Parking on the property is limited to 3 vehicles by the front fence, and the roundabout must stay clear for emergency vehicles, but visitors may be dropped off at the door. Free three-hour parking at Beacon Hill Park along Douglas Street.

Restrictions

As a historical site Carr House cannot allow pets into the house, with the exception of certified guide/service dogs. Pets are, however, welcome in the gardens.. The house holds reproductions, not original Emily Carr paintings.
