Self-guided park and garden visit
What it actually looks like
What the children do
Free, year round access to the nine acre grounds and gardens, open daily from dawn until dusk. The park holds a herb garden, pollinator and butterfly beds, a bat box, mason bee houses, a green roof on the pump house and the Greig rhododendron collection. The Town of Comox and the association publish a free self-guided walk, The Trees of Filberg, as a downloadable guide divided into six sections so a visit can be broken up. No booking route, group rate or group size limit is published for ordinary park use.
Walk the paths and open meadows between flowerbeds and rare trees, follow the printed tree walk from marker to marker, and look for the bat box on the fence line by Gate 1 and the mason bee houses around the grounds. There is a stream, a beachfront and open lawn to picnic on.
Good to know
Free to walk in, washrooms in two places on site with a changing table in one, and picnicking on the meadows. There is no indoor room if it rains, and bus parking is not stated anywhere, so check before you bring a coach.
