What the children do
A 2.5 hour party that includes a tour of the hatchery (subject to availability), hands-on fishing instruction at the stocked ponds, all the tackle and equipment needed, and a fishing rod gift for the birthday child. Food, cake and candles are not provided but may be brought; a barbeque is available on request at select locations. The price is $200 for up to 15 children, with $10 per child for additional children. Available at the fishing ponds at the Abbotsford, Clearwater and Fort Steele hatcheries - year-round at Abbotsford and seasonally (May - August) at Clearwater and Fort Steele. Walk through the hatchery, then fish at the stocked pond with rods and tackle the staff hand out and set up.
Good to know
Two and a half hours with equipment provided and a flat $200 group price for up to 15 children. Washrooms, indoor shelter and how far ahead to book are not stated, and all three locations are off Vancouver Island.
