Class visit to the library

What it actually looks like
What the children do
GVPL offers space and support for teachers and early childhood educators to bring groups to a branch for learning visits. Teachers can apply for student library cards ahead of the visit using a class visit form; the form is headed "Library Card Application Form for Pre K-8 Students" and is dated August 2025, and it asks a parent or guardian to consent and take responsibility for the card. The site directs groups to Contact us for help organizing a classroom visit. Schools, daycares, nonprofits and other organizations in the GVPL service area can also apply in person for a corporate library card. Visit length, group size, notice required and which branches host visits are not published.
Arrive at the branch with the class, spend time in the children's area, and pick books to borrow on their own card if a parent signed the form beforehand.
Good to know
Every branch has wheelchair-accessible entrances, washrooms and computers, and Central has an elevator to the second floor. Group size, visit length, lead time and somewhere to eat lunch are not stated anywhere on the site.
