What it actually looks like

Our note
Ninety minutes outdoors is a real stretch for three and four year olds, so plan for boots and layers whatever the forecast. No price is published for school visits, so ask for a quote and settle whether the extra half hour in the gardens is worth adding.

What the children do

A 1.5 hour facilitated visit in the gardens for preschool to grade 2, looking for the worms, snails, birds and snakes that live there and talking about what they need to survive and how to help their habitat. Program fees include entrance into the gardens. An optional 30 minute self guided activity in the gardens can be added for an additional fee. The site publishes no dollar amount for any school program.

Walk into the gardens with a facilitator and hunt for the animals that live there, worms, snails, birds and snakes, then talk about who they are and what each one needs to survive.

Good to know

There are washrooms on site and most paths take strollers, though the sloped parts take longer. Buses can drop off but cannot park, and the price, the group size limit and how much notice they need are all unpublished, so call first.
