What it actually looks like
Our note
It starts at grade 2, so this is not one for a daycare group. Wetlands mean wet feet in most months, so rubber boots are the difference between a good morning and a short one.
What the children do
A 1.5 hour program for grades 2 to 7 on the role of water in the gardens, the nearby wetlands and the wider watershed, covering how plants drink through their roots, where rain goes and how dirty water is cleaned. Program fees include entrance into the gardens, and no dollar amount is published.
Follow water around the site with a facilitator, from plant roots in the garden beds out to the wetlands next door, and talk about where rainwater goes after it lands.
Good to know
Washrooms are on site and most paths take strollers, though the wetland part of the route is rougher. No price, group size limit or notice period is published, so call before you book.
