What it actually looks like

Our note
Children under 16 are free, so the only real cost is the adults you bring. There is no booking route or group rate published for a self guided visit, so if you are arriving with a dozen children it is worth a call so they are not surprised at the front desk.

What the children do

The gardens are open to walk on your own every day from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Admission is $17.00 for adults over 16, $13.00 for seniors 60 and over and students with ID, and free for children under 16 and for HCP members. A member's guest accompanied by a member pays $11.00. The site says touring the gardens takes about an hour.

Wander the paths through the display gardens at their own pace, take the Japanese and Zen garden loop, find the Children's Garden to play in and stop at the ponds and the wetland edges.

Good to know

Washrooms are on site, most paths take strollers with extra time on slopes, and there is no indoor space beyond a classroom portable used for programs. Buses can drop off but cannot park, and parking on site is limited.
