Our note
This is the version to ask for if your group is under about eight. You have to say so in the topic box on the booking form, otherwise you will be given the standard tour. Being offered in French as well is worth knowing if you run a francophone or immersion programme.

What the children do

A free school tour aimed at younger, more kinesthetic learners and best suited to students in kindergarten to grade 3. Offered in English or French. It covers identity and family, community participation and Indigenous peoples, and introduces debate, law making and provincial governance. Through a mock debate, children see how a group of people come together to make decisions and how to make their voices heard. Book through the same tour request form and add a comment in the box titled Topic of Interest to say you want Little Legislators. Groups use the school entrance.

Take part in a mock debate inside the Parliament Buildings, standing up and speaking as decisions are made, alongside a walk through the building.

Good to know

Free, aimed at kindergarten to grade three, and booked through the same online form as the standard school tour. How long it runs, the group size limit and how much notice they need are not published, so ask.

Sources disagree. Three of their pages give three different phone numbers for tour enquiries. They are 250 387 9243 on the school tours page, 250 387 1771 on the Little Legislators page and 250 387 6668 on the general tour information page. Email tours@leg.bc.ca is given consistently on all three, so that is the safer first try.
Washrooms
If possible, plan to use washrooms prior to your arrival as the public washrooms in the Parliament Buildings are not well suited to large groups. If it is not possible, please let your guide know that you would like a washroom break included as part of the tour.
