What it actually looks like
What the children do
A visit for one class, priced at $60 for the class and covering up to 30 students, running about an hour and a half. It takes in a tour of the fishing boat BCP 45, a scavenger hunt through the museum exhibits in small groups, and a hands on maritime activity chosen to suit the age and curriculum, such as knot tying, flag making, signal codes or buoyancy. The centre says it can be adapted for all grades and books it by email. It also suggests pairing the day with the Discovery Passage Aquarium nearby, which is a separate organisation and books separately.
Climb aboard the BCP 45, the fishing boat from the old five dollar bill, and hear what life at sea and the fishing industry were like. Then work through the museum exhibits in small groups on a scavenger hunt. Finish with a hands on activity, for example tying knots or laying out signal flags.
Good to know
The visit is indoors, runs about an hour and a half and costs $60 for a class of up to 30. Washrooms, a lunch space, coach parking and how many adults have to come are all unstated, so ask when you email.
