Our note
Under fives are free and the rest is $5 a head, so a small group can do this cheaply on a drop in. If you have a whole class, the $60 school program adds a guided boat tour and a scavenger hunt for less than paying per child.
What the children do
The museum is open to drop in visitors at $8 for adults and $5 for children and seniors, with children under five free. Interactive stations include a knot board, a bridge simulator, a magnetic signal flag board and a lighthouse light, alongside the BCP 45 and the display galleries. No group rate is published for a visit that is not the school program, and no group booking route is given for one.
Try the knots on the knot board, take the seat at the bridge simulator and steer a ship, spell out messages with magnetic signal flags, and see the lighthouse light working up close.
Good to know
Open Tuesday to Friday until 4:30 and Saturday until 2:00, at $8 for adults and $5 for children, with under fives free. Washrooms, a lunch space and coach parking are not stated, so it is worth a call.
Sources disagree. Their contact page and the bottom of every page give different opening days. One has them open seven days a week, the other only Tuesday to Saturday. We show the shorter set. Worth checking when you book, especially for a Monday.
Sources disagree. Two of their pages give different Christmas closing dates. One says December 21 to January 5, the other December 23 to January 6. Assume the longer closure and check before you plan a December visit.
