Our note
Sixty dollars for a whole class is the cheapest way in, and the clipboards mean you do not have to write anything yourself. Thirty students is a hard ceiling, so a big class needs splitting.

What the children do

A self guided visit for a class at $60 per class for up to 30 students, with four themed clipboard activities on storytelling, tools, exhibits and artifacts included in the fee. Teachers can use their own worksheets instead and still borrow the museum's clipboards and pencils. The museum says this rate is only available to K to 12 groups.

Move through the galleries at their own pace with a clipboard, working through a themed activity or a worksheet their teacher has brought.

Good to know

Washrooms and a picnic area on site, and the building is wheelchair accessible with a courtesy wheelchair to borrow. Whether there is somewhere indoors to eat and where a bus can pull in are not stated, so it is worth a call.

Sources disagree. Two of their pages give different grade ranges for the colonization program. One says grades 8 to 12 and the booking form says 6 to 12. If you have a grade 6 or 7 class, ask before you count on it.
Sources disagree. They give two different grade ranges for the archaeology program, one starting at grade 7 and one at grade 6. A grade 6 class may or may not be eligible, so check when you book.
Sources disagree. The Haig-Brown tour is described as two hours in one place and one hour in another. Plan your bus for the longer one and confirm the length when you book.
