Nothing on their schools pages tells you what this costs, and the group price on their tours page may or may not be the same thing, so get the number in writing before you commit a class budget. If you are coming from out of town, ask about pairing it with the museum and the library so one bus covers two stops.
What the children do
A guided interactive tour of the current exhibition for a school class, followed by a hands on art activity inspired by it. The gallery's own workshop directory lists it as School Tour and Activity for kindergarten to grade 12. Visits run 1.5 hours, Tuesday to Friday, and can be paired with a visit to Nanaimo Museum and lunch at the Harbourfront library so two classes share one bus. With four exhibitions a year, classes are invited to come back for a different visit. No price is published for this one.
Look at and talk about the works in the current exhibition with a gallery facilitator, then make their own piece in an art activity based on the show.
Good to know
Washrooms with change tables are inside both the gallery and Art Lab, and the way in is step free with automated doors. There is no lunch room at the gallery and no parking lot of their own, so sort out lunch and the bus before you come.

A single room, gender neutral washroom is available both inside the Gallery and inside Art Lab. The counter tops in each washroom are 32" high. Change tables are available in both washrooms.

Wheelchair access
Street-level access is located via our front entrance on Commercial Street. There are two sets of double automated doors to pass through before entering the Gallery.
Bus parking
There is no public parking lot for Gallery visitors. Paid street parking is available. The nearest parkade is on the corner of Bastion & Fitzwilliam Streets behind the Royal Bank.
