Our note

This one is on the water as the light goes, which rules it out for most young groups. If you want it with older children, get them to pin down the actual start time for your date, because it moves with the sunset.

What the children do

A guided evening kayak tour from the downtown dock, running daily from April to September. The start time changes with the sunset and the tour takes about 2.5 hours. The published prices are $115 for an adult and $69 for a child aged 10 to 12. As with the afternoon tour, their page recommends a private tour for families with children.

Paddle through the harbour with a guide in the evening, passing the city landmarks while the guide talks about Victoria's history.

Good to know

Start times are not listed anywhere, so you cannot plan a pick up from the site alone. Washrooms, changing space and anywhere to eat are not mentioned either.

Sources disagree. Two of their pages disagree about whether boat rentals at the downtown dock are running. One says rentals are available from the 1st of May onwards, another says they are closed until spring, and the home page was advertising a discount on rentals. Worth settling on the phone before you plan around a rental.

There is very limited parking at the bottom of Swift Street. City paid parking is available in any spot indicated by a blue ParkVictoria numbered pole. There's a paid lot at the top of Swift Street at 500 Store that's less than a 5 minute walk from the dock.
