Our note
Nobody takes a reservation for these, so a group simply arrives and joins the public. The subject changes every week and none of them is written for children, so check what is on that Sunday before you bring a young group.

What the children do

A themed walking history tour open to anyone, every Sunday at 2 pm from mid February to mid December, with a different topic each week. Most are at Ross Bay Cemetery, where the group meets at the cemetery entrance on Fairfield Road opposite the south end of Stannard Street, and some are at other heritage cemeteries in Greater Victoria. No reservations are needed. It costs $5 for non members and $2 for members, paid by cash or e-transfer, and the tours last about an hour. Topics for 2026 range from the gold rush and nursing pioneers to a ghost tour in October and a Christmas tour in December.

Join whoever else has turned up, follow the guide around the cemetery for about an hour and stand and listen at each grave.

Good to know

No booking needed, you turn up at 2 pm on a Sunday and pay $5 a person for about an hour outdoors. Washrooms, lunch space and a wet weather plan are not mentioned on the site.

Sources disagree. Their school page charges one flat $45 for the whole tour and their private group page charges $10 a person. Which one applies to a class of children is not spelled out. Worth settling when you book, because for 25 children the difference is large.
