What it actually looks like

Our note
Three hours on a boat with no way off is a long stretch for little ones, and the washroom on board is the only one they will see. Under threes go free, which makes this the cheaper of their two boats for a group with very young children.

What the children do

A three hour whale and wildlife tour on a semi covered boat with seating, full washrooms and an upper viewing deck, guided by a certified marine naturalist. Prices are per person: $159 for adults 19 and over, $129 for youth 13 to 18, $109 for children 3 to 12, and infants aged 0 to 2 go free. A $4 wildlife conservation fee is listed as included. Hot drinks are free on board and snacks and soft drinks are for sale. The tour leaves from the Coast Victoria Hotel and Marina on Kingston Street, and there is a free shuttle from selected downtown hotels if you ask when you book.

Sit under cover or stand at the rail of an open upper deck for three hours, watching for whales, sea lions and eagles while a naturalist explains what is in the water.

Good to know

Washrooms, seating and shelter are on board and the tour runs three hours from a downtown dock. Their tours are not fully wheelchair accessible and no group or school rate is published, so ask what a group of children would pay.

Sources disagree. Their semi-covered tour page gives two different places to meet. The tour details point to the Coast hotel marina on Kingston Street, while the small print further down the same page says to check in at 950 Wharf Street. Their questions page says Kingston Street. Worth confirming when you book, because the two docks are a walk apart.
Washrooms
Washrooms are available on all semi-covered vessel tours. Open vessel do not have washroom facilities, so we recommend using the facilities at our Wharf Street location before departure.
