Museum visit by appointment
What it actually looks like
What the children do
The museum displays logging memorabilia from the North Island and shows three video exhibits, on the last logging railway in North America, on women in log scaling, and on finding the pioneer. The page carries no opening hours and is marked open by appointment, so a visit has to be arranged first, by phone. Admission is by donation and greatly appreciated, which is not the same as free, and no child, school or group rate is published. Nothing on the site describes a program built for a class or a daycare group, and it does not say whether a visit is guided or on your own.
Look at displays of logging memorabilia from the North Island and watch the museum's video exhibits about the last logging railway in North America, women in log scaling, and finding the pioneer.
Good to know
The only practical things published are a phone number and that admission is by donation. Washrooms, lunch space, parking, step-free access, how long a visit takes and what ages the museum suits are all unstated, so plan to ask all of it on the call you make to book.
