What it actually looks like

Our note
These land on a weekend afternoon, so it is a family outing rather than a weekday class trip. If you want to bring a group, phone the box office first, because nothing on the site covers holding a block of seats.

What the children do

The theatre picks a few family films each season and screens them on weekend afternoons. Children are encouraged to come in costume or dressed in the theme of the film, special guests appear dressed as characters from it, and local sponsors usually provide door prizes. The series page says admission is free. Everyone who comes in needs a ticket, whatever their age, and children of 13 and under have to sit next to a supervising adult.

Sit in the auditorium and watch a film, often dressed up in its theme. Characters from the film come out to meet them and door prizes are handed out.

Good to know

Washrooms on both levels, step free seating at the back of the auditorium and a lift down to the lower level. There is nowhere to eat a packed lunch, because outside food and drink are not allowed, and nothing is said about parking a bus.

Sources disagree. Their family film page says admission is free. Their box office page says a $3.40 handling fee goes on every ticket, however you buy it. Nobody says which applies to a free film, so ask when you reserve seats.
