Fused glass workshop
What it actually looks like
What the children do
A three hour beginner session. Glass and supplies are included, and each person makes one piece up to seven inches, a plate, sun catcher, pot or garden ornament, or instead two four inch pieces or two pendants with cords. Extra glass costs a small amount more. The studio runs scheduled Saturday classes, listed as glassware from 10 to 1 and culinary from 1 to 4, and private bookings where you and Susan pick a date that suits your group. The price is shown only as to be announced, plus GST, per person. Ages are published as 8 to adult, and children aged 5 to 7 may attend if each brings an adult helper, who is not charged. Registration is by email. Finished pieces are fired for 18 hours and returned one to three days later, so nothing goes home on the day. You may bring your own food, and Susan provides coffee, tea, hot chocolate and a snack.
Lay coloured glass pieces onto a base at the studio bench to build a plate, sun catcher, garden ornament or a pair of pendants, with the teacher working alongside them for about three hours. The piece is left behind to be fired in the kiln, so they go home empty handed and collect it later.
Good to know
No price, no dates and no group rate are published, and the studio says it is closed until October 2026. Nothing is stated about washrooms, parking or where a group would eat, although you are welcome to bring food and hot drinks are provided.
