Our note
Nothing about this tour is priced on the site, so the first email decides your budget. Ask what it costs per child and per adult, how long the tour runs, and how many children they will take at once. Their published opening times are weekdays only, so settle the day before you plan anything else around it.
What the children do
The centre books private guided tours of the Cultural Centre, where a guide talks about the Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw people, the culture and the objects on display. Artist demonstrations away from the centre and totem pole talks beside the ʼNa̱mǥis Original Burial Grounds can also be scheduled. The price, the length, the group size and how much notice is needed are not published. The tourism coordinator handles scheduling and pricing.
Walk through the galleries with a guide and look at the masks and other regalia of the Potlatch Collection while the guide talks about them. If it is arranged in advance, the group can also watch an artist working, or stand beside the totem poles at the ʼNa̱mǥis Original Burial Grounds and hear about them.
Good to know
The address, the phone number and the person who books tours are published, and so are the walk-in admission prices. Nothing is stated about washrooms, somewhere to eat, how many adults have to come, or what the tour itself costs, so plan on a phone call.
Sources disagree. Their own pages give two different answers for the opening days. The contact page says Monday to Friday, and a post about the current exhibit says 7 days a week. The weekend matters here because the Saturday tour and the summer dance performances both fall outside weekday hours, so settle it when you book.
